Wittelsbacher Schloss Friedberg
WITTELSBACH CASTLE FRIEDBERG
In the 18th century, in Friedberg next to the watchmaking for a short time another branch of industry developed: Elector Maximilian III. In 1754, Joseph of Bavaria had a manufactory for faience set up in the rooms of the Friedberg Castle - for pottery with white opaque glaze. However, since the manufactory only lasted a few years, the Friedberg faience is of high rarity
After several years of closure, the museum's collection in the Wittelsbacher Schloss in Friedberg shines in new splendor.

Friedberg was a center of watchmaking from the 16th to the beginning of the 19th century and exported its precious items to the entire Holy Roman Empire of the German Nation (including present-day Bohemia, Germany, Austria), Hungary, Poland and probably also the Republic of Venice and the Ottoman Empire.
